Things to Do Near Lisbon Airport

If you have headed to Lisbon, you probably have a list of things that you want to enjoy and experience. You will likely need to get settled into your hotel before you get to enjoy the things that you want to do most, but what if you could have fun before you get to your hotel? Many things can be done on the way to and from the airport so that you can get the most from your time in Lisbon.

No matter what else you are planning to do near the Lisbon airport, you should be sure that you have your luggage in secure storage. This will make it much easier to have a good time during your day in this part of the city. There are lots of entertaining things to do on the way to and from the airport, but if you do not want to have your luggage with you, you can trust that your bags will be safe when they are stored properly.

Things You Can do Near Lisbon Airport

1. Visit Jose Gomes Ferreira Park

This lovely park is one of the best in the area around Lisbon, and you can head to this park for free. It is also open seven days a week, 24 hours a day. This is a great place for you to take kids to play, and it is also an ideal spot to see some art and statues that are located near the center of the park.

The park is usually quiet and peaceful as well, which can be a great way to spend a few hours on the way to or from the airport. There are many parks in the Lisbon area, and this is one of the best.

2. Quinta Pedagógica dos Olivais

This is another park, but there is also an animal farm here to see. This is like a petting zoo that is really a working farm. There are peacocks, cows, chickens, and even horses here. The shade trees are lovely, and you can sit in the shade or even walk through the swimming ponds and the vegetable gardens during your visit.

This is a great way to keep kids busy when you have a couple of hours to kill. You can easily make this a part of your trip in either direction from the airport.

3. Oceanário de Lisboa

The aquarium is one of the best in the world, and you should make sure that you put this location on your list of places to visit during your time in Lisbon. People of all ages will have so much fun here. You can see sea life of all kinds here, and there are penguins, sharks, and tons of tropical fish to get to see and learn about.

This aquarium is very informative about all of the sea life that is housed here. You can learn all about the challenges that face sea life around the world and about the movements that are being done to try and make the world a healthier place, from the ocean to the land.

4. The Museum of Lisbon

To learn more about Lisbon and its history, you need to head to the Palace Pimenta. This museum location is dedicated to the history of Lisbon all the way back to prehistoric times. The museum even has exhibits from the early 20th century. You can spend a few hours here easily, and you will know so much more about Lisbon when you leave.

Taking the time to learn more about Lisbon can enrich your experience while you are visiting this amazing and historic city.

5. Walk the Boardwalk at Parque Tejo

The boardwalk at Parque Tejo is very famous, and you have probably seen pictures of this lovely location in stock images and in art. The boardwalk is long, and it stretches right out into the ocean. You will also be able to walk near the area of the Vasco da Gama bridge. There are tons of things to see here and so many chances to take beautiful pictures for your social media.

This is a lovely area that you should not miss out on seeing while you are in Lisbon. People of all ages can have fun here for part of the day.

6. Igreja de Cristo-Rei da Portela

There are many lovely little and big catholic churches in Lisbon, and this smaller church is one of the most beautiful. You will love being able to make the most of this beautiful space along with locals and have an authentic experience when you head here.  The design of this church is unique, and you have access to the whole of the church, which is not possible in many of the larger churches around the city.

If you have some spare time on your way to the airport or after you have arrived in Lisbon, you can take a moment to head to any of these locations. You will experience more of what makes Lisbon special when you make the time for these experiences. From museums to the aquarium to parks around the city, you can find out so much about the area around the Lisbon airport to love.

Even if you are rushed a bit for time, you can still have a great time at these locations. Heading to your flight or heading into the city can be more fun if you take a moment to have a break at one of these fun stops. Make sure that you put your luggage into secure storage so that you can have a great time while you are learning more about the city that you have come to enjoy.
